主，禁住我的口
LORD, GUARD MY TONGUE
 
「耶和華啊，求你禁止我的口，把守我的嘴。」 詩141:3
"Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips." Psalm 141:3
 
甚麼給我們惹禍最多？是我們的舌頭，言語往往比行動更會出賣我們。
What has brought us most of our trouble? Our mouths. Our words betray us more than our deeds do.
 
「禍從口出」的根源，是因為我們不願將舌頭交給基督掌管。也因為這樣我們常常只為了自己說話，甚至在我們所說的話中常否認了祂。其實我們沒有值得讚揚的地方，一切值得讚揚的是祂。
The root reason why our tongues get us into trouble is that we are slow to surrender our speech to the control of Christ. That is why we often speak only for ourselves, and everything to praise in him.
 
有些時候，我們的話表達了錯誤的情緒。要小心我們所說的每一個字，尤其是憤怒、嫉妒、自傲或沮喪的時候，這些情緒往往令我們失控，首先失控的就是舌頭。
Sometimes our words also reflect wrong moods. Always be careful of every word, but especially when you are angry, jealous, proud, or depressed. Such moods often cause us to lose control, and the first control to go is that of our tongues.
 
讓我們也學會說話之前先測驗要說的話。這些話是真的嗎？是仁慈的嗎？是必需的嗎？它會怎樣影響聽的人。要小心閒言 —— 那是對人格的暗殺。遇到麻煩的人需要的不是屠殺，乃是幫助。
Let us learn also to test our words before we say them. Are they true? Kind? Necessary? And what will be their effect upon those who hear us? Beware of gossip—that's character assassination. People in trouble need to be helped, not slandered.
 
還有，要保持言語清潔。我們這個時代的罪惡，許多是源自骯髒和無禮的談話。這類談話四處可聞，以致有時我們變得麻木起來。
Also let your speech be pure. Much of the evil of our time can be traced to the filth and profanity of conversation. So much of this is around that some of us have become insensitive to this kind of talk.
 
在這一切之上，保持我們的言論像基督。祂會說甚麼，怎樣說法？有一件可以肯定的事，祂所說的是真實、榮耀神的話。
Above all, let us keep our speech Christ-like. What would he say? How would he say it? One thing is sure: every word that he spoke was true and glorified God.

PRAYER
 
主耶穌，願我們的思想言語都蒙祢悅納，我們為了舌頭給我們惹的禍而感到慚愧。求祢饒恕我們，阿們。
Lord Jesus, may our words and our thoughts be acceptable in your sight. We are embarrassed by all the trouble our tongues cause us. Please forgive us, for you sake. Amen.
